Ina Marie Chambell, 98, passed away Friday, July 26, 2019 at Carthage Health & Rehabilitation. Ina was born November 15, 1920 in Carthage to Carr and Leona “Stogsdill” Pendleton. She was born and raised in Carthage, then moved to California for 23 years. She returned to Carthage in 1973. Ina was a nurse's aide at McCune- Brooks Hospital and attended First Christian Church in Carthage.
Ina was united in marriage to Bill Gilbert on April 2, 1938 in Carthage; he preceded her in death. Ina then wed Henry Chambell on March 27, 1948; he preceded her in death in 1992.
Ina is survived by two sons, Terry Chambell (Karen) and Melvin Chambell, both of Carthage; four daughters, Linda Pruitt (Birl), Elaine Gilbert, Cheryl Hobbs, all of Carthage, and Joan Poulson of Jasper; 22 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren.
Ina was preceded in death by two sons, David Gilbert and Wayne Gilbert; three brothers and six sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be at Park Cemetery in Carthage.
