Richard William Burns, a lifelong resident of Joplin, died on Thursday, July 11, 2019 after an extended illness.
Richard was born on October 10, 1946 in Joplin, Missouri to the late D.A. and Marguerite (Williams) Burns. He was a sonar man in the US Navy with deployments to Sixth Fleet hot spots during the height of the Cold War.
In 1979, Richard bowled a perfect 300 game, and a 755 series at Carl Richard’s 4th Street Bowl in Joplin, Missouri.
Richard is survived by a brother, Lt. Col. Dan Burns (Cathy) of Montgomery, AL., and a nephew, Scott Burns (Elise) of Nashville, TN.
A memorial visitation will be held at Parker Mortuary on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to the American Heart Association.
