Jean Williams

(From Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home)

Our beautiful wife, mother, sister, and friend, Jean Ann Williams is now a sweet angel in Heaven. Jean, age 81 of Purcell, Missouri, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, July 13th, 2019.

Jean was born July 5th, 1938 in Alba, Missouri, to Claire “Joe” Cook and Sudie (Taylor) Cook. She was born just two blocks away from the Alba School where she would both graduate in 1956 and meet the love of her life, Robert “Bob” H. Williams. Jean was a lifetime area resident and was employed at Schrieber’s for 29 years, retiring in 2000. She was a member of the Purcell Baptist Church for over 47 years. Jean loved fishing and riding her motorcycle, which she often rode to work, and she also enjoyed traveling, listening to music, and NASCAR.

Hosting family gatherings was a very important part of her life as well as attending the grandchildren’s sporting events—she was known to be one of the first people in line at the Webb City Cardinals’ football games. Jean was abundantly generous, kind, and loving, and she instilled those values in her children and grandchildren.

Jean is survived by her husband Robert; her son, Randy Williams and wife Jackie of Purcell; her two daughters, Rhonda Triplett and husband Jeff of Joplin, and Vickie Shively and husband Darren of Purcell; her twin sister Jeanette Sweet of Joplin, and her sister Beverly Haizlip of Dallas, Texas; and her eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, as well as numerous friends and extended family.

The gentlemen honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Jean’s grandsons, Grant Williams, Jerad Wilson, Steffan Triplett, Jesse Shively, and her great-grandsons, Bryce Wilson, Brayden Wilson, Brentan Wilson, and Corbin Williams. Jean is also honored by her granddaughters, Caresse Williams, Katelyn Robertson, Auburn Sooter, and Toy Triplett, and her great-granddaughters, Laney Williams, Rilan Shively, and Sage Triplett-Gonzalez.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Tuesday at the Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home with Mike Wilkins officiating. Music will be provided courtesy of the Wilkins family and Elvis. Burial will follow at the Purcell Friends Cemetery.

Jean’s family would like to thank all of the caring staff at Webb City Health and Rehab.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home, Webb City, Missouri.
