Marilyn Clark

Marilyn Sue Irelan Clark, age 83, Joplin, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Mercy Hospital surrounded by her family, after a long illness.

Marilyn was born October 27, 1935 to the late Arnetta Maryman and Howard Cartright and had lived in the Joplin area most of her life. On December 26, 1953,

Marilyn married Ray Wayne Irelan in her parent’s back yard during a candlelight ceremony with a background of white flowers and jade. Wayne preceded her in death on April 16, 2005 after 51 years of marriage. On January 2, 2008, Marilyn married Otis LeRoy Clark. Otis preceded her in death on August 24, 2009.

Marilyn was also preceded in death by her one and only son, Jon David Irelan; sister, Elaine Allen; and brother, Ellis Cartright.








Survivors include her daughter, Marcia Black and husband, John, Joplin, Missouri; grandchildren, Adam Black and husband, Zackary Graddy, Evan Black, Emme Black and Elle Black, all of Joplin, Missouri; sister, Celia Kunce, Atlanta, Georgia; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Marilyn cherished all of the many friendships she had. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

A celebration of life will be held Monday, July 29th, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Parkwood Senior Apartments Community Center with Truman Brady officiating.

In lieu of flowers, it was Marilyn’s wishes that memorial contributions be made to Villa Heights Christian Church.
