Emma Poe

(From Parker Mortuary)

Emma Lou Poe, age 86, Joplin, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 22, 2019 at Joplin Gardens.

Emma was born March 29, 1933 in Joplin, daughter of the late William “Bill” Henry Conrow and Lola Augusta Griffis Conrow. Emma graduated from Duenweg High School, and was a lifelong member of Wildwood Baptist Church, having gone there for over 75 years.

She married David Lewis Poe in 1952, and the couple enjoyed 63 years together before his passing in 2015. She worked for over 20 years at McDonald's, and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her son Lew was her greatest accomplishment and she followed him to many sporting events over the years, coaching and cheering him on. Emma was proud to gain a daughter in 1987, when Jeanine married Lew. Her support and dedication to family continued with her granddaughters, as she faithfully attended their many activities. She was an active member of her church, there any time the doors were open, either helping, teaching, or learning. Emma Lou loved spending time with her six older siblings and their families, spoiling her granddaughters, cooking and baking, and serving others.

In addition to her parents and Dave, Emma was preceded in death by five siblings, Billy R. Conrow, Betty "Tootsie" King, Roy "Pete" Conrow, Eula Mae Hulsey, and Charles C. Conrow.

Survivors include her son, William Lewis "Lew" Poe and wife Jeanine of Carthage; granddaughters, Jordynn Griffith and husband Taylor of Joplin, Elizabeth Poe of Carthage; brother, John Conrow of Joplin; 15 nieces and nephews, dozens of great-nieces and great-nephews; and her “second son”, Scott Black.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 26, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Wildwood Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Morris officiating. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Wildwood Baptist Church on Thursday, July 25, 2019, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Wildwood Baptist Church Building Fund.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
