Bonnie Lea Whaples, Granby, MO passed away after a short illness on July 15, 2019, at the age of 99 years, one month, and fourteen days.
She was born June 1, 1920 to Ray and Goldie (Downey) Bell. Bonnie lived most of her life in the Granby area; she was a homemaker and, for many years, was a delivery person for the Joplin Globe. When younger, Bonnie enjoyed gardening; in her later years, she enjoyed going on car rides and watching her favorite television show, The Price Is Right.
Bonnie and Doyle Whaples were married February 7, 1939; he preceded her in death on July 28, 1977. She is survived by one daughter, Peggy Green of Granby; four grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and thirteen great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Bonnie was preceded in death by two sons, Doyle Ray “Butch” Whaples and Jimmie Wayne “Bub” Whaples; one brother; and one sister.
Graveside services will be held 10 am Friday, July 19, 2019 at Newtonia IOOF Cemetery, Newtonia, MO. The family will have a time of visitation on Thursday, July 18 from 6 pm until 7 pm at Clark Funeral Home, Granby Chapel, Granby, MO. Contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 26; Granby, MO 64844.
