Mr. William Earnest “Bill” Milleson, 75, of Pineville, Missouri, departed this life on Tuesday evening, July 16, 2019, at Innisfree Nursing Center in Rogers, Arkansas, after a recent decline in health.
Bill entered this life on October 14, 1943, in Stella, Missouri, born to the union of the late Charley and Alice (Wylie) Milleson. At the age of seventeen he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served two combat tours in Vietnam earning a Purple Heart and numerous other commendations. While in the service he studied meteorology and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Maritime. He retired on July 31, 1990, as Senior Chief and Harbor Pilot, with over thirty years of loyal and faithful service to his country. On January 11, 1997, he was united in marriage to Shirley Cope and together they have shared the last twenty-two years. Bill loved the ocean, driving trucks and attending Whittenburg Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three siblings, Esther Harris, Nancy Milleson and Charles Milleson.
Bill is survived by the love of his life, Shirley Milleson of the home; two children, Jamey Cope and wife, Traci, of Pineville and Janelle Snoderly and husband, Larry, also of Pineville; three grandchildren, Rachel Tolbert and husband, Dustin, Justin Cope and wife, Tiffany and Cody Cope; one great grandson, Mason Stamps; a sister, Mary Cook of Rogers, Arkansas; nine nieces and nephews, Justin, David, Dennis, Pam, Michelle, Margie, Bub, Charlissa and Talasha; his pretty girlfriends, Lexi and Sophie May; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Milleson are 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2019, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Justin Cope, Janelle Snoderly and Scott Lay officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Union Cemetery near Stella, Missouri. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Rex Canfield, Mickey Buttry, Ruben Bass, Cody Cope, Larry Snoderly, Justin Milleson, Dennis Ford and Dustin Tolbert with Dan Ameling, David Harris, Harold Brazeal, Mason Stamps, George Griffith and Franklin Fletcher serving as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Memorials are being directed to the Whittenburg Church c/o the funeral home.
