Oma Jean Powell

Oma Jean Powell was born January 18, 1927 in Cooksville, Tennessee, one of eleven children to Walter L. and Willie L. (Myers) Hall. She entered into rest on July 25, 2019 in Joplin, Missouri, following an extended illness at the age of 92.

Oma moved with her family to Wichita, Kansas and in 1968 moved to Neosho from Wichita. She was an LPN and owned and operated Powell Boarding Home in Neosho. She was a compassionate person and had an interest for others. She was a member of the Lifepoint Church in Joplin. 

Oma Jean married William Thomas Powell, Jr. on Oct. 16, 1946 and he preceded her in death on June 20, 1980. 








 She is survived by one son, Michael L. Powell and wife, Vickie of Dianna, Texas; three grandsons, Keith A. Powell of Kansas, Myron Powell of Nebraska, Gerri Powell of Kansas, Debbie Powell of Kansas and Michele Walker of Missouri; twenty two great grandchildren and four sisters, June Jones of Missouri, Wanda Parsons of Kansas, Nelwyn Dockins of Missouri and Joy Staso of Missouri. 

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a son, Dick W. Powell; five brothers, William Hall, Jimmie Hall, Larry Hall, Cleonis Hall and Gutherie Hall and one sister, Virginia Sirmans.
