Linda Turner

(From Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home)

Linda passed on to be with the Creator on July 14th. She was born January 21, 1949.

Linda was preceded in death by

her daughter Shannon Knox White, father Edward Logan Jr, Mother Patricia Wabaunsee Oliver and her brother Tom Mills.

Linda was the Granddaughter of Florence Bigtail Hubbard Wabaunsee, who was the very first Seneca Cayuga Roll member #1 in 1937; and her grandfather was John Wabaunsee. She always beamed with pride that “grandma was the very first”.

Linda was a member of the Seneca Cayuga Tribe, Northside Turtle Clan. She also was part Praire Band Potawatomi and Citizen Band Potawatomi.

She is survived by her children: son Shay Smith; daughter Charissa Duncan Mathews and husband Lowell Mathews; and brother John Oliver. Linda's grandchildren: Heath White and wife Tiffany; Kaitlyn Case and husband Jeremiah; and Christian Mathews. Linda's great-grandchildren: Hunter and Drake White.

Linda graduated high school in Wyandotte, Oklahoma, earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Tulsa University and also earned a Paralegal degree as well.

Linda was elected and served on many Tribal Committees with distinction. She also worked at Seneca Cayuga Tobacco company and also served the Tribe in the Gaming Commission.

Linda was a staunch participant in Tribal Affairs, Tribal Government, activism and her first Tribal Greencorn Ceremonies was at the age of just two, in 1951, sitting on her Grandma Bigtail Hubbard’s lap.

If ever there was a “mini-me”..... it was Grandma Bigtail Hubbard and Linda.

Grandma Bigatail Hubbard doted over Linda from the day she was born and there was a special bond between the two.

Linda worked tirelessly for the betterment and the advancement of the Seneca Cayuga Tribe of Oklahoma. She was outspoken and quite clear of her beliefs and positions.

Linda will be sorely missed by dozens of cousins and friends along beside her immediate family.

Linda was one of a kind. Our hearts are broken, and she will be forever remembered and missed.

The body will lie in state at the Seneca Cayuga Community Center from 5pm July 15, 2019 to 1pm July 16, 2019. Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm July 16, 2019 at the Bassett Grove Cemetery, Grove, OK with Charlie Diebold officiating.
