Denise Lee, age 65, Carl Junction, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at her home after a sudden illness.
Denise was born February 1, 1954, in Romulus, Michigan, daughter of the late John Celley Rodgers and Gertrude Ilene Henry Rodgers. She moved to the Carl Junction area as a child, and graduated from Carl Junction High School. She worked as a seamstress for RER Apparel for many years, and also worked at Casey's on Briarbrook Dr. and most recently at Carl Junction Middle School in the cafeteria. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Denise was preceded in death by her husband, Sammie Lee, Jr. who passed away in 2017; a son, Kenny Lee, who passed away in 2014, and two sisters, Bonnie and Barbara.
Survivors include her son, John Lee of Carl Junction; grandchildren, Macie and Waylon; sisters, Darlene Dowling of Carl Junction, and Jean Parks of Joplin; a brother, Gary Rodgers of Joplin; several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. at Center Creek Park in Carl Junction.
