Michael O'Brien

Mr. Michael Allen O’Brien, 73, of Pineville, Missouri, departed this life on Saturday, July 20, 2019, while at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Missouri, after months of declining health.

Michael entered this life on January 7, 1946, in Bentonville, Arkansas, born to the union of the late John Joseph and Edith Estella (Russell) O’Brien. He was a lifelong area resident. Early in his life he worked in the family business, “O’Brien Hillbilly Foods”. Michael was a self-employed entrepreneur specializing in the entertainment industry. He was the first to establish Indian Casinos in Oklahoma. At one time he also owned a world champion mule and coon dogs. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and possessed an amazing sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Yancy O”Brien; five brothers, Wallace, Russell, Harold, Richard and Don O’Brien; and a sister, Patti Wiley.








Michael is survived by his five children, Elizabeth Cook of Goodman, Missouri, Jeff O’Brien and wife, Rosemary, of Swansboro, North Carolina, Michael O’Brien and wife, Patricia, of Goodman, Heather Daugherty and husband, Jack, of Boring, Oregon and William C. O’Brien of Seneca, Missouri; seventeen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well a host of other family and friends.

Memorial services are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2019, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastor Marilyn O’Brien officiating with Andrew Cook delivering the eulogy.
