Mary Hildreth

Mary Lee Hildreth, age 85, of Joplin, passed away on Wednesday July 24, 2019 at the Communities of Wildwood, following a long illness. Her strong faith in God sustained her to the end.

Mary Lee was born on July 23, 1934 the daughter of the late Ernest and Dorothy (Hallam) Gibson.in Badger, Ks. She graduated as the “Class of 1952” Valedictorian from Galena High School. Following graduation, she went to work for 1st National Bank in the loan department.

She met and married Dale E. Hildreth on February 21, 1953. Together they had three children. She became an Avon salesperson working her way to sales manager. After thirteen years with Avon Manager she went to work for Jerry’s Fashion Barn, Casual Corner, and concluding her career at Talbots. She always looked her best and she had a true sense of fashion.

Mary Lee was a longtime member of Central City Christian Church. In 2011 she began attending College Heights Christian Church where she was a member of the Crusader’s Bible Study Class. She was also a member of the Prestige Club and Freeman Advantage.

She and her husband Dale loved traveling with friends and family. She enjoyed camping at Treasure Lake in Branson with her children and grandchildren.









She was preceded in death by her loving husband Dale E. Hildreth on November 27, 2001; their two-year-old son, Richard Dale Hildreth; and two brothers, Gary and Wayne Gibson.

She is survived by her children; Bruce Hildreth and wife Jane’, Las Vegas, NV and Susan Brown and husband Randy, Joplin, MO; four grandchildren, Drew Hildreth, Wichita, KS, Derrick Brown (Somer), Seneca, MO, Amanda Rich (Brad), Carl Junction, MO, and Zach Brown (Amanda), Anderson, MO; and six great-grandchildren, Cheyane, Roper, Lily, Cooper, Charlee, and Wesson.

The family would like to thank the private caregivers and Three Rivers Hospice and especially the staff of Wildwood who loved and cared so well for her.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at College Heights Christian Church. Rick Bushnell will officiate. There will be a private family burial prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be given to ‘One Less Gift Campaign’ at College Heights Christian Church in care of the mortuary.
