Dick DeGraffenreid

Richard Lee Degraffenreid, 84, of Sarcoxie Missouri, departed this life on Monday, July 27, 2015 at Sarcoxie Nursing Center.

Richard entered this life on December 2, 1930 in Hockerville, OK to the union of the late Charles “Bud” and Bessie (Davidson) Degraffenreid. In 1939 his family moved to California, later relocating to Webb City, MO. Richard grew up in Webb City with his nine brothers and sisters, they were all graduates of Webb City High School. After graduation he proudly served in the Navy. In 1951 he was united in marriage to Pearl Bottoms and together they shared twenty five years until her passing in 1976. In the late 1970’s he was united in marriage to Eva Faust and she survives of the home. For many years he worked for Ray Holland's Gas Station is Webb City. Everyone in town knew him by his nickname “Dick”. He was also a retired employee of F.A.G. Bearing of Joplin, Missouri. Richard and Eva moved to Sarcoxie, Missouri in 1982 on a small acreage. He enjoyed raising dogs, gardening, camping, and fishing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two sons; Buddy and Jerry Degraffenreid, two step sons; Roy and Earl Faust and one step great grandson; Nicholas Langley, his brothers and sisters; Royal, Gerald, Shirley and Susan.
Richard is survived by his wife of the home, one daughter, Donna Hiser of Baxter Springs, Kansas; one step daughter, Kathy Doty of the home, step son in law, Jeff Doty of Seneca, Missouri and one step son Merle Faust of Carthage, Missouri; his grandchildren; Stephanie Kincaid, Shannon Lopez, Tricia Beebe and Chad Degraffenreid, seven great grandchildren; three brothers; Ray Degraffenreid and wife Marguerite, Jack Degraffenreid and wife Elizabeth, and Glenn Degraffenreid, two sisters; Mary Bohnstedt and Bernita Pence and husband Bob, as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services with full military honors for Mr. Degraffenreid were held Friday, July 31, 2015 at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home, Sarcoxie with Pastor Don Sullivan officiating. Burial followed in Sarcoxie Cemetery. Those honoring his life as pallbearers were Keith Jarmin, Ray Degraffenreid, Joe Degraffenreid, Cody Degraffenreid, Brian Pence and Shane Pence.
