Glenna Watkins

Glenna Leanne Watkins, age 66, Carthage, lost her courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on Friday, January 3, 2020.

Glenna was born July 8, 1953, in El Paso, Texas, to the late Glenn Garoutte and Birdie R. Stephens Garoutte.

Glenna lived in the Joplin area most of her life. After earning her Bachelor’s Degree at Missouri Southern State College she began her long career in the advertising and marketing industry. Recently she earned her Master’s Degree at Gonzaga University. Over the years she worked for Freeman Hospital, Lee & Wyrsch Advertising, Christ in Youth, and most recently for KFJX TV FOX 14.

Glenna was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. She cherished being by the water and her time spent at the beach. She loved her family with all her heart and will be missed by everyone that knew her.

Glenna married Bruce R. Watkins on June 15, 1990, in Joplin, Missouri. He survives her at the home.







Additional survivors include her children, Taylor C. Peck, Carthage, Missouri, and Olivia C. Watkins, Grand Junction, Colorado; grandsons, Johnathan T. Draper and Jaydan T. Draper, both of Joplin, Missouri; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at Parker Mortuary.
