Laura Block

Mrs. Laura Mavor Block, 82, of Sarcoxie, Missouri passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

Mavor entered this life on September 16, 1937 in Jasper County, Missouri to the union of the late Elbert and Edith (Kisling) Houck. She was a graduate of Sarcoxie High School.

On June 12, 1957 she was united in marriage to Cecil Floyd Block. Together they shared sixty one years until his passing on November 10, 2018. She attended Calvary Baptist Church, and taught Sunday school and was very involved in children’s church. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, baking, cooking, gardening and working on the family farm. She was truly a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.








She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Charles Ray Block; sibling, Juanita Long, Carl Houck, Lorena Haworth and Neoma Houck.

Mavor is survived by her sons; Cliff Block of Carthage, Missouri, Clint Block of Sarcoxie, Missouri and Chris Block (Karen) of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Connie Phillips (Andrew), Timothy Block (Stormy), Thomas Block (Amanda), Candice Six (Taylor), Aaron Block, Andrea Jones (Kevin), Jacob Block, Joe Block, Josh Block (Ebonee) and Rachel Block; sixteen great grandchildren; sister, Loretta Riddle of Carthage, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Block are 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie, with Pastors Chris Block and Cliff Block officiating. Interment will follow in the Sarcoxie Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Joseph Block, Tim Block, Kevin Jones, Aaron Block, Taylor Six and Andrew Phillips. Honorary pallbearers are Tom Block, Joshua Block, Jacob Block, Cliff Block, Clint Block and Chris Block.
