Helene T. (Zamburek) Shellenberger, 94, of Neosho, MO entered into rest January 29, 2020 after a lengthy illness. Helene was born February 6, 1925 in Nurnberg, Germany to the late Hans and Anna Zamburek.
As a child growing up in Germany, she enjoyed ice skating, listening to music on the radio, and family gatherings. Later, she enjoyed playing the accordion and the harmonica, and singing.
On August 13, 1948, she married Charles W. Shellenberger, who was in the US Army, stationed in Germany. Soon after, she and Charles came to Neosho, and together, they raised their family on the farm. She loved children, enjoyed taking care of farm animals, gardening, cooking, and canning. She always had a smile on her face and was kind to everyone. Helene was an active member of Burch Baptist Church, where she served as a teacher and song leader.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; her brother, Walter Zamburek; her son, Walter Shellenberger; and her grandson, Rowdy Shellenberger.
Helene is survived by one daughter, Traudy Hines and husband, Bennie; four sons, Herbert Shellenberger and wife, Margaret, Vernon Shellenberger and wife, Janet, David Shellenberger and wife Lisa, and Gary Shellenberger and Vivian; nine grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Services will be held 10 am, Monday, February 3, 2020 at Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Neosho, MO with Pastor Del Hampton officiating. Interment will follow at Belfast Cemetery. A time of visitation will be from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm on Sunday, February 2 at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
