Justin Alan DeVine, age 32, of Carl Junction, passed away on Wednesday January 15, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas.
Justin was born March 10, 1987 in Joplin and graduated from Carl Junction High School in 2005. He has lived in many places, but Carl Junction has always been his home. He grew up at Fellowship Baptist Church in Joplin.
Justin never gave up trying to be free from his addictions. He loved life and wanted so badly to be free. He dreamed of having a family of his own and especially wanted to be a dad. He was still fighting for those dreams. While addiction played a big part in Justin’s life, when you think of him, think of his goofy smile, sriracha sauce, skinny jeans and unique taste in music; but, most importantly, remember his charming personality, huge heart and unmatched loyalty.
Justin will never realize how many lives he impacted. We will miss him deeply, but rejoice knowing that he is finally at peace.
Survivors include his parents, Matt and Tammy DeVine, of Carl Junction; sisters, Kara DePriest and husband, Hank, of Joplin, Hannah DeVine of Carl Junction and Natilie DeVine of Carl Junction; nephew, Nolan DePriest; niece, Rylee Grant; and grandparents, Carroll and Ramona Wheat, of Carl Junction.
Memorial services will be held on Friday January 31, 2020 at Fellowship Baptist Church with Ed Willoughby and Andrew McGowan officiating. The family would love for you to come and share stories at noon, with services starting at one o’clock. Private family interment of his remains will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his cousin, Brendan Garrett. The family is grateful for two candlelight vigils that have taken place in San Antonio, Texas, on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 and another in Sarasota, Florida, on Saturday January 25, 2020.
