Wanda Jean Abernathy was born November 6, 1936 at Quinton, Oklahoma, the daughter of Chester and Pearl (Farris) Blackwood. She entered into rest on January 18, 2020 in Joplin, Missouri at the age of 83.
Wanda moved to the Neosho - Racine area in 2011 from Corinth, Mississippi. She was a homemaker and she loved to can and cook. Before moving from Corinth, she co-owned and operated the Corner 15 Candy Store with her daughter. She was a member of the Racine Apostolic Church.
Wanda married Nolan Abernathy, who preceded her in death in March 2010.
She is survived by seven children, Kathy (Kenny) Wilson of Decatur, Alabama, Sheryl (Steve) Epley of Racine, Nolan Keith (Camille) Abernathy of Emporia, Kansas, Nathan Abernathy of Loganville, Georgia, Timna (Milford) Murphy of Neosho, Sherah (Jeff) Moss of Kossuth, Mississippi and Stephen Abernathy of Kossuth, Mississippi; eighteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Daniel Abernathy in 1993; two brothers and step-sister.
