Don Osburn

Donald Wayne Osburn passed away January 13, 2020, at the Belmont at Twin Creeks Rehab Center, in Allen, Texas following a long illness. He had been a resident of Garland, Texas since 1997 and had been active previously in many areas, including Golf Course Superintendent at Glen Lakes Country Club in Dallas, TX, Golf Course Superintendent, Elk River Country Club, Noel, Missouri and Park Superintendent at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas for many years.

Don was born in Newton, Illinois, on November 9, 1934, to Cecil and Inez Osburn. 








He is survived by a loving family: his daughter, Terri Jo Osburn of Fort Worth, Texas; sons Dennis Wayne Osburn & wife Beth of McKinney, Texas, David Osburn & wife Theresa of Gun Barrel City, Texas, Darren Osburn & wife Crystal of Kokomo, Indiana; brother Gairy Osburn, Pineville, Missouri and sister Beverly (Mark) Hempen, Bonita Springs, Florida. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, Brian Osburn, Matthew Osburn, Eric Osburn, Kevin Osburn, Vanessa Osburn, Tiffany Thomas Monk, Jennifer Collum, Travis Thomas of Texas, and Lindsey Osburn, Sunni Osburn of Indiana, as well as, 10 great-grandchildren. 

Don was preceded in death by the love of his life, Mary Lou (Joplin) Osburn; his parents Cecil and Inez Osburn; his brother Leslie Osburn, two sisters-in-law, Ginger Osburn and Jimmie Osburn; and his second wife and loyal companion, Eulah (Mills) Osburn. 

Don dearly loved his family and was a devoted member of New Liberty Baptist Church in Garland, Texas. He loved music and sang with his brothers, Leslie and Gairy in a group called the Osburn Brothers, who has a radio program on Sunday mornings on Radio KCTE, 1040 on the AM dial in Southwest City, Missouri in the 1970s. Prior to that he enjoyed a lifelong history of music heritage, playing guitar with brother Les, his sister Beverly played piano, and brother Gairy harmonized with their Mother, Inez (Chesnut) Osburn. He loved the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys, but most of all he loved the Lord! 

Services will be held on Friday, January 24, at 11:00AM, at First Baptist Church, 200 Duff St., Sulphur Springs, AR, with Don’s nephews, Pastor Gairy Osburn, officiating and Pastor Billy Kelley with burial following in Howard Cemetery in Goodman, Missouri.
