Chad Highfill

Chad Wayne Highfill, age 45, Carthage, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 near his home in Carthage after a sudden illness.

Chad was born June 7, 1974 in Springfield, Missouri, son of the late Teri Kaye Best Highfill and Terry Highfill of Carthage. He grew up in Springfield and Carthage, and graduated from Carthage High School in 1993.

He has worked for years as a bartender in St. Louis and Mackinac Island, Michigan. He returned to Carthage in 2016 where he loved spending time with family, especially spoiling his nieces and nephews. 










During his youth he was an athlete, playing all sports in High School, baseball was where he shined the most. He was a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Chicago Bulls, especially Michael Jordan. He enjoyed going to Christ Church of Oronogo since moving back to Carthage. He was known for his outgoing personality, and lighting up the room with his smile. He will be missed by many.

In addition to his mother, Teri Kaye, Chad was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lester and Lois Highfill, and Paul and Billie Best.

Survivors include his father, Terry Highfill of Carthage; sisters, Melanie Miner-Obloj and husband Adam of Webb City, Stacey Walton and husband Cody of Carl Junction, and Tara Highfill of Joplin; 11 nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Christ Church of Oronogo with Pastor Paul Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
