Velma Caroline Balden, age 96, of Pierce City, MO died on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Cox-Monett in Monett, MO. She was born in Sarcoxie, MO on Tuesday, June 26, 1923; the daughter of John A. and Carolene (Block) Eimer.
Mrs. Balden worked at Jumping Jacks Shoe Factory and also spent many years as a homemaker.
Mrs. Balden graduated from Diamond High School. She thoroughly enjoyed watching the Lawrence Welk Show and enjoyed working in her flower garden. She spent many hours working with her flowers and enjoyed them once they had grown. Mrs. Balden enjoyed her retirement. She ate many meals at the Pierce City Senior Center while visiting and talking with friends. Mrs. Balden loved talking to family members and spending time with family. She enjoyed traveling to see her family as well.
Surviving are the following: one daughter, Melissa LeMaster and husband, John, of Pierce City, MO; one sister, Marjorie Baker of Memphis, TN; one niece; and 2 nephews. Mrs. Balden was preceded in death by the following: her parents; two husbands, Paul Matthews and George Balden; one sister, Helen Crossno; and one brother, Floyd Eimer.
The family will receive friends at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Rosary Services will follow visitation at 7:00 PM. Services will be at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 1:00 PM with Father Matthew Rehrauer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Pierce City, MO. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.
