Dean Wilson

Lloyd Dean Wilson, Sr., age 86, of Carl Junction, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at his home with family at his side.

Dean was born September 2, 1933 in Webb City, Missouri, son of the late Cecil Robert Wilson, Sr. and Fannie Grace Gibson Wilson. He grew up in Carl Junction and graduated from Carl Junction High School. Dean worked for years in sales, mainly automobile sales at Dan Stanley Ford. He then opened Dean Wilson Auto Sales in Webb City. He obtained his real estate license and opened Wilson Real Estate, which he enjoyed for years before retiring. He then opened Carl Junction Flea Market which he operated until 2000.

Dean was a member of the Carl Junction United Methodist Church, serving in several different capacities, and the Joplin Elk's Lodge #501. He was also an active volunteer with the Carl Junction American Legion Baseball for years, something that was very dear to his heart. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Dean was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean war. Dean was a kind hearted soul and would help those in need without question. He will be missed dearly by everyone that knew and loved him.








In addition to his parents Dean was preceded in death by his siblings, Cecil Wilson Jr., Glenn Wilson, Art Wilson, Danny Wilson and Carol Sue Wilson.

Dean is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patricia "Pat" Frazier Wilson; sons, Lloyd Dean Wilson, Jr. and wife Marianne of Carl Junction, David Scott Wilson and Donald Lee Wilson both of Joplin; grandchildren, Erin Wilson, Sara Grieb, Taylor Wilson, Collin Wilson, Matthew Wilson and Madison Wilson; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Carl Wilson and wife Shirley of Carl Junction; sister, Linda DeVito of Peculiar, Missouri; several nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family would like to thank the amazing people at Hospice Compassus for all of the love and care they gave Dean.

Memorial services will be Monday, January 20, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Paul’s Church Carl Junction with Rev. Bob Simon and Rev. Rick Flinn officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Interment of his ashes will be private family service at a later date in Carterville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made to the Acute Flaccid Myelitis Association in honor of Lauren Grieb or the Saint Paul’s Church Carl Junction Campus, in care of the mortuary.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
