Neal Thurman

Neal S. Thurman, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 16, 2020 at his residence in Diamond, Missouri at the age of 85.

Neal was born June 6, 1934 in Pepsin, Missouri, one of three children to Ray and Nellie (Crocker) Thurman. He attended grade school at Freedom School and graduated as salutatorian from Diamond High School, class of 1952. 

Neal owned and operated Thurman Plumbing and Electrical; served as water superintendent for the City of Diamond for 35 years; and retired from Vickers, Inc. in 1989 after 35 years of service. 

Neal was very involved in the Diamond Community and had served as a board member for the Diamond Schools. He was a long time deacon and Sunday school teacher at the Diamond First Assembly of God; and most recently had attended Silver Moon Full Gospel Church. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and spending time at his cabin on Shoal Creek. 

Neal married the love of his life, Patricia A. Lindley on December 6, 1953 in Diamond and she survives. 








Additionally, he is survived by three daughters, Vicki (Jim) Vannaman, Terri (Dale) Alford and Tammi (Rick) Comer, all of Diamond; one son, Jeff (Pamela) Thurman of Joplin; thirteen grandchildren, Heather Hicks, Josh Comer, Seth Vannaman, Madison Alford, Jonathan Comer, Summer Stubbs, Adam Alford, Brittany Athmer, Jordan Comer, Emily Fosse, Micah Alford, Tyler Thurman and Kohl Thurman; fourteen great grandchildren and two sisters, Jeannie Ralston of Aransas Pass, Texas and Karen Vannaman of Houston, Texas. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.
