Cathleen Frakes

Cathleen Luanne Frakes, age 86, of Joplin, MO, passed away at 7:45 p.m., 28th day of January, 2020 at home following several months of ill health.

Cathleen was born September 3, 1933 in Chariton, Iowa. She graduated from Webster City, Iowa where she met her Sadie Hawkins beau John. She married John Frakes on August 24, 1954. She served with John to churches in Iowa, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Illinois for over 45 years.

During that time, she served in various capacities for God’s kingdom. She was a woman who brought joy and laughter to all those around her. Her quick wit and sense of humor always left a smile on the face of those who knew her. She welcomed all into her home and always made them feel like family. She was a dear friend to all who knew her. She was a faithful believer of Jesus Christ, which was her source of joy and hope and was a member of the Park Plaza Church family.








Additional survivors include one son, David Frakes, and wife Loretta of Denver, CO; one daughter, Julie Woolever and husband Mark of Joplin, MO; 10 grandchildren, Bethany, Rachel, Karissa, Melissa, Jessica, Cody, Sara Beth, Holly Ann, Mischa, and Tim; 10 great-grandchildren, Christopher, Caden, Chloe, Kyleigh, Nathan, Arlo, Alyssa, Avery, Aiden, and Walker; one brother, Jack Curtis of Phoenix, AZ, and one daughter-in-law, Becky and Randy Martin of Springfield, MO. Cathleen was preceded in death by her husband, John in 2012, and one son, Bryan Frakes in 2001.

Services will be at 10:30 am, Saturday, February 1, at Park Plaza Christian Church, 32nd and Indiana in Joplin. Minister B.A. Austin will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Webb City. 

Those serving as pallbearers will be David Frakes, Mark Woolever, Cody Frakes, Scott Speck, Jack Curtis and Marvin Bass. The family will receive friends at Park Plaza Church from 10 to 10:30 am on February 1.

The family has requested that memorial contributions in memory of Cathleen be made to the St. Jude’s Hospital, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66; Neosho, MO 64850.
