James King

James Morris King, age 82, of Joplin, Missouri, took his heavenly journey, Sunday January 12, 2020, at 8:55 p.m. He was born October 28, 1937, in Joplin, Missouri, to Archie L. King Jr. and Mary Ellen (Morris) King.

He owned King’s Custom Butchering in Webb City. He worked at Connor Hotel, where he met the love of his life. He also worked at South Town Meats, Bud’s Little Super, several other grocery stores and some construction. After retiring, he delivered pizzas for Pizza Hut.

He married Frances Weaver on April 9, 1954, in Joplin, Missouri. She preceded him in death on March 26 , 2012, after 57 years of marriage.








He is survived by two sons, Donald King (wife Cindy) and Gary King; and one daughter, Diane Sadler (husband Kevin), all of Joplin. He was blessed with four grandchildren, Christopher King (wife Jamie), Angela Bennett (husband David), Shelly Gilbert (wife Emily) and Jeff Sadler. He was more blessed with eight great-grandchildren, Wesley and Zachary Roughton, Kendal, Dymond and Levi King, Emily, Ryan, and Tyler Robertson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kenneth (at birth); and brothers, Ralph, Bill, Tom and Raymond.

Visitation will be held at Christ’s Community United Methodist Church, 2700 E. 44th Street, Joplin, Missouri 64801, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2020, with a Celebration of Life to follow at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Chris Sloan officiating.
