Betty Skinner

Betty Francis Skinner, age 86 of Joplin, MO. passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at Joplin Gardens following an illness.

Betty was born on September 25, 1934 in Moberly, MO., the daughter of Charles and Minnie (Dent) Watts. She worked for the Social Security Administration and later the Office of Personnel Services for the U.S. Military retiring in 1997. She was a long-time member of Harmony Heights Baptist Church. 

Betty enjoyed playing Bridge, traveling, watching the St. Louis Cardinals and spending time with her Rosedale group.








She married Charles “Chuck” Skinner on June 8, 1957 in Moberly, he preceded her in death on November 6, 2019. Betty was also preceded by her parents, a son; Robert “Bob” Charles Skinner, and three brothers; Gene Watts, Robert “Bob” Watts and Dr. Bill Watts.

Betty is survived by her daughter; Denise Krolman and husband Pete of Joplin, a sister; Kay Matheny and husband Tim of Charlotte, N.C., three grandchildren, Will Krolman, Cortney Krolman and Samantha Skinner, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Harmony Heights Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Avalon Hospice or The Gideon’s International in care of the mortuary.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
