(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Johnnie Bartley age 83, of Asbury, MO., passed away Monday, June 14th, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO. Johnnie was born to Everett Bartley and Ethel Jane (Long) Bartley, west of Waco, MO on June 18, 1938.
Johnnie graduated from Carl Junction High School, class of '57. He married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Kathryn Howard in 1960 and would have celebrated 61 years together on June 19th.
Along with his wife Kathryn, Johnnie is survived by his 2 children; son, Tim Bartley (Sonya Garrison) of Asbury, MO and daughter, Beth Critchfield (Todd) of Columbia, MO; granddaughters, Laurel Bloom (Cooper) of Lexington, KY and Caroline Critchfield of Columbia, MO; great grand daughter, Violet Bloom; sisters, Helen Sample and Mary Jean Hopkins; brother, Everett Bartley. Along with his parents Johnnie is preceded in death by siblings Floyd Bartley, Warren Bartley, Mildred May, Irene Bartley, Freda Hance, Dwight Bartley, Bonnie Silvers, Dorothy Bartley, and Pauline Bartley.
Johnnie worked at various jobs, principally Dr. Pepper/7 up and Pepsi, Joplin Distributing and retired from O’Sullivan Industries where he was most proud of his 16 years of perfect attendance awards. After retiring, he worked several years for Richard Weaver, getting Richard's garbage business established. Johnnie enjoyed baseball, especially his beloved St. Louis Cardinals, bowling, hunting, fishing, and mowing grass with his John Deere. Johnnie was also a member of the Asbury Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 pm on Thursday, June17, 2021 at the Mason Woodard Mortuary, 3701 E. 7th St. Funeral Services will follow at 6:00 pm. A committal service will follow on Friday, June 18th, 2021 at 10:00 am at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Asbury.
