Jeri Winans

Thelma Jearline (Jeri) Winans went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, June 25, 2021. Jeri was born in Marion County Arkansas, August 30, 1929 the daughter of Tom Mefford and Delphia (Terry) Mefford. 

She married B.C. Winans in 1946 and moved to Jasper County Missouri. 

Jeri was a pharmacy tech at St. John’s Hospital for 25 years before retiring. She was raised in a Baptist church and her faith in Jesus was comfort to her throughout her life. 








Jeri enjoyed cooking for her family, crocheting and traveling. She was quite famous for her peanut brittle, lemon cheesecake and three-cornered rolls. 

Jeri was preceded in death by her husband, B.C., her son David, her sister Geneva (Mefford) Owen and her brother, Alvin Mefford. 

She is survived by her son, Clarence Winans and his wife Brenda of Joplin; granddaughter, Letitia Kenney and husband Guy of Moberly, Missouri; grandson, Alex Winans and wife Megan of Nevada, Missouri; and great-grandchildren, Brianna Thompson, Eric Thompson, and Parker Winans; a loving niece, Shirley Shockey and husband Joe; nephews, Earnest Owen and wife Ann, Denzil Owen; and a dear friend and caretaker, Susan Sims, who made it possible for her to stay in the home she loved for the last years of her life. 

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 1:00 PM at the Mount Hope indoor chapel.
