Joe Potter

Joseph Gerald Potter, 85, of Carl Junction, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Communities of Wildwood Ranch in Joplin.

Joe was born July 8, 1935 on the White Earth Reservation in Minnesota to Orie and Julie Potter. Following high school, Joe served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. 

Joe was proud of his Native American heritage and he was also a devout Catholic. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and all other outdoor hobbies. Joe loved to work on cars and stay busy, always tinkering on something. He was a member of the VFW Post 534, Webb City Elks Lodge #861, American Legion Post 13, and the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine of Springfield.








Joe worked as an over-the-road hauler for over 20 years, followed by his career with Cardinal Scale in Webb City. Joe simultaneously owned and operated his own tree service, Potter’s Tree Service, for over 20 years.

In 1986, Joe married Peggy Bryant and she preceded him in death in 2018. He was also preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings.

Survivors include his children, Macrina Christian, Jerry Potter, Orie Potter, Kathleen Allen (Michael), Carmen Sudduth, Kathy Rahlwes (Edward), Shannon Woodring (Mike), Harry Bryant (Catrina), Kurt Burrow, Chris Burrow (Zoe), Jovita Musha (Mark); numerous grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; his special friend, Francis; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

The family will hold a committal service at 9:00 a.m. Friday, July 9, 2021 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Road, St. Louis. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
