JoAnn Smith

(From Parker Mortuary)

Cleo JoAnn Smith, 84, of Seneca, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2021.

JoAnn was born March 28, 1937 in Waynesville, Missouri to the late Samuel Smith and Lillie Ella (Cleaver) Storie.

JoAnn married Russell Lee Smith on August 14, 1953. To this union four boys were born, James, Philip, Timothy and Donald. They shared 51 precious years together before his passing in January of 2005.

JoAnn worked at R & M Restaurant, Eastmoreland Plaza Bowl and most recently as a nanny. JoAnn was very dedicated to the individuals in her care and considered each of them family. She was a hard worker and never really truly retired, always caring for others.

JoAnn was very talented at sewing. She made several quilts and afghans that she loving gave to family. She enjoyed cooking for her family from their garden and farm. JoAnn enjoyed going to auctions and finding treasurers, rodeos, and watching her boys play baseball. It was very important to her that her boys knew Jesus, and through their attendance at North Joplin Christian Church, she did just that. Joann was sure to show the boys what unconditional love was and she lived life to the fullest. She cherished the time spent and memories created with her husband, children, grandchildren, family, and friends. To know JoAnn was to love her, and she will be greatly missed by all.

In addition to her husband and parents, JoAnn was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Dianne Smith; siblings, Clella June, Ella Mae, Lucy, Gene, Norm and Milford.

JoAnn is lovingly survived by her children, James E. Smith, Philip R. Smith, Timothy L. Smith (Charlotte), Donald N. Smith (Elizabeth); grandchildren, Nickie Volk (Jason), Debbie Smith, Philip A. Smith; great grandchild Parker Volk; together with many extended family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Ron Thomure officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Cerebral Palsy of Tri-County in Webb City, in care of the mortuary.
