(From Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary)Larry Duane Babb, Sr., 75, of Joplin, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2021 at his home.
Larry was born January 2, 1946 in Stella, Missouri, one of eight children born to Caurus and Rachel (Long) Babb. He graduated from Stella High School and later attended Joplin Junior College. Larry worked as an independent farmer in the 70s before working for Modine, retiring in 1996.
On March 12, 1970, Larry married Sharon Lawrence and together they had two sons, Larry Jr. and Michael. He was a member of Park Plaza Christian Church. He enjoyed St. Louis Cardinals games and woodworking crafts.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sharon, in 2015; and his sister, Carolyn Hughes.
Survivors include his two sons, Larry Babb, Jr., and wife, Raquel, of St. Peter’s Missouri, and Michael Babb and wife, Sherri, of Melbourne, Florida; four grandchildren, Alaina Hubecky (Adam), Caleb (Clarissa), Kolton (Emily) and Leevi (Abigail), two great-grandchildren on the way, including his great-granddaughter, Alivia; siblings, Irene Brown, Nolan Babb, Charles Babb (Teresa), James Babb, Rebecca Babb, and Nancy Booth (Jim); sisters-in-law, Debbie Muir and Brenda McCollum; brother-in-law, Gerald Lawrence; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2021 at Park Plaza Christian Church in Joplin with Minister B.A. Austin officiating. Burial will follow at Hazelgreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6-7:00 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
