(From Parker Mortuary)Tim Messner, age 67, of Oronogo, passed away on Monday, August 9, 2021, at his home after a long illness, exactly where he wished to be.
Tim was born as part of a set of identical twins on March 1, 1954, to Jack and Theba (Turnbull) Messner in Fort Jackson, SC. He moved to Joplin with his family when he was young, attended Catholic church, and graduated from Memorial High School.
After finishing his education, Tim went to work for F.A.G. Bearings in Joplin, where he stayed for 44 years before retiring at 62 years of age to live the life he always wanted.
Tim never wished for fame and fortune; he was a down-to-earth K.C.Chiefs and Mizzou Tigers fan who enjoyed the quiet of his country home. An avid outdoorsman, he spent his time hunting, fishing, and playing softball outside with his large group of friends and family.
Those who have survived him consist of his parents, Jack and Theba Messner, of Joplin; his three daughters, Toni Anderson, and her husband James, of Webb City; Tomi West, and her husband Martin, of Broken Arrow, OK.; and Katelyn Messner of Covington, TX.
Unfortunately, Tim suffered the losses of his son, Bryan Messner, his twin brother, Tom Messner, a second brother, Michael Messner, and a sister, Mary Pat Messner before he passed.
Through their hard work and dedication, Tim was given nine beautiful grandchildren: Mauree, Ian, Justin, Maya, Paige, Maggie, Kaleb, Maximus, and Sadie. He was also blessed with three amazing great-grandchildren: Aliyah, Tatum, and Owen.
Tim was also survived by one brother and three sisters: Frank Messner, and his wife, Shonna, of Webb City; Margaret Campbell, and her husband Ron, of Joplin; Susan Smith, of Kansas City; and Karen Perry, and her husband Don, of Nashville, TN.
Tim left our world better than the one he inherited. His unique humor, selfless kindness, and laid-back attitude made everyone in his circle feel comfortable and welcome. He loved democracy, wrestling, racing cars, and, most importantly, his family.
Tim’s boyish excitement and natural peacekeeping abilities drew people straight to him and his life ended just as it had begun: he was, and is, loved.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Parker Mortuary in Joplin. Everyone is welcome to join us to celebrate his life and share our memories, just as he would have wanted.
A private family burial will be held at a later date at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin.
All arrangements are under the care and direction of Parker Mortuary in Joplin.
