Velda Eads

Velda Reta Eads was born December 1, 1933, in Seneca, Missouri, one of four children to Clovis Cleo and Nellie (Fritchey) Black. She entered into rest on January 2, 2023, in Neosho, at the age of 89. 

Velda was a graduate of Seneca High School, class of 1951, and a lifelong area resident. She worked as a bookkeeper at Independent Gravel and later co-owned and operated Independent Welding with her husband, George, until their retirement in 1995. 








She was a talented painter and especially enjoyed doing acrylic painting, and she enjoyed watching the eagles when they returned to the Stella area. She was a Cub Scout leader, taught Sunday School for many years, and was a member of the Sweetwater Baptist Church. 

On February 2, 1952, at the First Baptist Church in Seneca, Velda and George Eads were united in marriage. He preceded her in death on August 10, 2022, after seventy years of marriage.








Velda is survived by two sons, Chris Eads and wife, Ro of Neosho and Mark Eads and wife, Carol of Granby, and one grandson, William Eads of Colorado.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Clovis Carol Black and James John Black, and one sister, Vurva Nell Colemen.

Private graveside services are planned. The family will receive friends at a time of visitation, Monday evening, January 9, 2023 from 5:00-6:30 pm. Contributions in memory of Velda may be made to Gideon Bible’s, PO Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850.
