Freddy Sill

(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)

In the loving memory of our husband, father, grandfather (Papa Freddy) and brother Freddy Leon Sill, who passed away on August 9, 2023. He was the devoted husband of Becky Sill (Williams) and loving father of Elizabeth Branscum (Sill) and Emily Wouk (Sill). He developed a fatherlike relationship with his two sons-in-laws Gabriel and Tony. He was the oldest brother to Jimmy Sill, Betsy Churchwell (Sill), and Carol Jones (Sill).

Additionally, Freddy is survived by five wonderful, beautiful grandchildren, Lily, Houston, Roman, Maddy, and Reign. He was a Christian who loved his family fiercely, and was always there for them unconditionally!

Freddy was an engineer at Eagle Picher, working in the space program and his name is on a plaque on Mars. He was an entrepreneur and businessman, having owned and operated a fleet of over the road trucks and a parts store.

An avid “car guy”, Freddy built, raced, rehabbed, and traded cars his entire life. He could take a garage full of car parts and build an entire car. He literally drove cars at the age of 12 years old. He was known by hundreds of people in the 4-state area as a guy that could troubleshoot a car problem, come up with a solution, and often offer to fix the car for anyone and everyone.

He owned his classic “40 Ford” that he owned to this day for 55 years, built numerous dune buggies, hot rods, and built and raced a rail dragster, as well as a plethora of motorcycles.

Early in life, Freddy learned the importance of hard work and he instilled that same work ethic in his two very successful daughters. He was always there for his family and friends. Later in life he found the ultimate joy of spending time with, kidding around with, supporting, and chauffeuring his 5 grandchildren to their many activities.

The funeral service will be held at Mason Woodard Funeral Home on Monday August 14th with visitation at 1:00 and the service to follow immediately at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family would request that those who loved him bring their hot rods and their best “Fast Freddy” stories.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
