Lonnie Mahurin

Lonnie Murl Mahurin, 78, of Afton, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

He was born on August 17, 1944 in Cyclone, Missouri, born to the late, LeRoy and Jewel (Stites) Mahurin. 

Lonnie married Janet Reames on November 8, 1979 in Miami, Oklahoma. He was owner of a logging and sawmill company called American Hardwood based in Afton, Ok. 

He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, mowing, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals play baseball. Lonnie was a man who served the Lord and always put family first. Everyone who knew him would say, "He was a One-of-a-Kind Man."

Lonnie is survived by his wife, Janet Mahurin of the home; children, Joey Mahurin of Afton, Oklahoma, Lonna Henry and husband, Rodney of Fairland, Oklahoma, Tonya Mahurin-Rhodes and husband, Charles of Lanagan, Missouri, Katrina Vaughn and husband, Jamie of Pineville, Missouri; a brother, Chester Mahurin of Rossville, Missouri; sisters, Vel Hobbs of Texas and Sharon Baughn of Casa Grande, Arizona; 12 grandchildren, Mason, Sawyer, and Timber Mahurin, Karter and Kayson Henry, DJ Hamill, Kristian, Kiara, Justin, and Jordan Manion, Keaton and Devon Madrid; one great grandchild, Waylon Mahurin; as well as a host of other family, friends and neighbors who will dearly miss Lonnie.

Funeral Service for Lonnie will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, August 14, 2023 at the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service in Union Cemetery in Stella, Missouri. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 14, 2023 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home.
