Bobby Fields

Bobby R. (Bob) Fields born July 16, 1939 of Neosho, Missouri, left this life on Saturday, January 13, 2024. Services will be held Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri with Ken Middick officiating. Burial with military Honors will be held at Osborne Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 20, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the mortuary.







Bob was born in Carthage, Missouri on July 16, 1939 to King and Fern (Shuey) Fields and passed from this life on January 13, 2024 in Enid, Oklahoma. He graduated from Neosho High School in 1957, then served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1960. 

After the Navy, Bob worked for AT&T for thirty-nine years. He retired in 1989 as manager of Custom Services for the State of Oklahoma. After the long career with AT&T, living in many towns throughout Oklahoma and Kansas, Bob and Phyllis built their retirement home on the same land he grew up on near Neosho. 

During retirement he worked for Newton County and helped install the 911 system. He also served as purchasing manager for Newton County until 2010. He continued his service to his community by serving on the 911 Operations Board and the Nu-Mac Corporate Board for many years. Bob also attended the Church of Christ on West 20th Street and served on the Board.

On April 5, 1958, he married Phyllis Kay Winchester at Cave Springs Baptist Church. From this marriage they had three children; daughter, Deborah and two sons, Ronald and Daniel. They were married fifty-three years before Phyllis passed in 2011.








Bob is survived by daughter, Deborah and husband Tim Heinrich of Garber, OK, son, Ronald Fields of Texarkana, TX., son, Daniel Fields of Neosho, MO.; grandchildren, Michelle and husband John Jones of Ponca City, OK., Luke and wife Heather Peat of Hunter, OK., Baxter Heinrich and fiancée Carissa Parr of Blackwell, OK., Garret and wife Allison of Billings, OK., Kelly and husband Brendan Buris of Joplin, MO., Rebecca Chase of Boonesville, Mo., Daniel Woelbling of Florissant, MO.; great-grandchildren, Hannah Herzer of Ponca City, OK., Tori Johnson of Hunter, OK., Tynlee Peat of Hunter, OK., Lilly Peat of Hunter, OK., Peyton Jones of Ponca City, OK., Brecken Parr of Blackwell, OK., Barrett Heinrich of Blackwell, OK., Nathaniel Smith of Oklahoma City, OK., and great-great grandchild, Stella Johnson of Hunter, OK. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews scattered across the United States.

He was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis and parents King and Fern Fields.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers in Bobby’s name may be made to the American Cancer Association or the Alzheimer Association with Parker Mortuary serving as custodian of funds.

Arrangements are under the direct care of Parker Mortuary., Joplin, MO.
