Douglas Brian Scholes Jr., known as "D.J." passed away suddenly Friday, December 22, 2023, in Columbus, Kansas.

D.J. was born to Rebecca and Douglas Scholes Sr. on May 19, 1996; and later adopted by his aunt and uncle Janet and Jerry Scholes. He is remembered for his great sense of humor, quick wit, and his love for his children and nieces and nephews. D.J. was very artistic and had drawn a mural of a dragon on a wall at the school.







Preceding him in death are his birth parents, Rebecca and Douglas; and siblings Chasity Scholes, Jake Gobl, and Charley Scholes.

Survivors include his adoptive parents: Janet and Jerry Scholes; his wife Amanda Scholes; son Alexander Scholes, stepdaughter Lily Kohl; siblings: Curtis Scholes, Brandon Scholes, Holly Robarts (husband Brandon, Jeri Anne Scholes, Ashley Scholes, Courtney Scholes, Amber Fox (husband Brian), and Sabrina Scholes (Byron); grandmother Pam Howell; and grandmother Cora Seat. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Cremation arrangements are being handled through Derfelt Funeral Home of Columbus, Kansas. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at the funeral home Friday, January 5, 2024, at 1:00 PM. Reverend Jim Sukraw will officiate. Burial of cremains will follow at Lone Elm Cemetery.
