Donna Crampton

(From Parker Mortuary)

Madonna “Donna” Lee Hilton-Crampton, of Joplin, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2024, at Mercy Hospital, at the age of 91. Born on December 30, 1932, in the community of Hornet, to the late Clayton and Emma Bell.

Donna was first united in marriage to Howard Hilton, and their loving union brought forth their only son, Tom Hilton. They enjoyed several years of marriage until his passing in 1983.

Later she met William “Bill” Crampton. Together they were united in marriage in 1989, and they shared many happy years until his passing in 2015. Donna dedicated several years to Safeway Cheese, from which she retired. As a devoted mother and grandmother, she found her greatest joy in the smiles and laughter of her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.

On Saturdays, Donna would cook meals for her entire family, filling the house with the aromas of love and laughter. Her love for gardening was more than a hobby. Her garden was a place of solace and peace, and often brought joy to others as her roses bloomed every year.

In addition to Donna’s parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by six siblings; and her beloved son, Tom Hilton, in December of 2023.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Whitney Thetge, and her husband, Tim, of Joplin, and Wade Hilton, and his wife, Jessica, of Webb City; daughter-in-law, Jay Hilton, of Miami; four great-grandchildren, Bailee Thetge, Cooper Thetge, Molly Hilton, and Sadie Hilton; two siblings, Sue Bearden, of Joplin, and Charles Bell, and his wife, Lelia, of Kansas City; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Parker Mortuary in Joplin with burial to follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery in Joplin. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Tuesday beginning at 10:00 AM at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Donna to the Dayspring Outreach Ministries and may be entrusted to the mortuary.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
