Dortha Little

(From Clark Funeral Home)

Dortha Little, affectionately known as Dottie, age 95, passed away on January 6, 2024. She was born to Everett and Lena Turner on April 17, 1928, in Union, MO, leaving behind a legacy adorned with creativity, wanderlust, and boundless love for her family.

An artist by heart, Dottie found solace and joy in the strokes of a paintbrush, crafting beauty on canvas. Her passion for art reflected a soul that appreciated the intricacies of life's colors and forms.

Her wanderlust led her on adventures across Europe, feeding her curiosity and nurturing her love for exploration. Alongside her passion for travel, she was a connoisseur of fine wines and cheeses, relishing the diversity of flavors that echoed her own zest for life.

A devoted lover of animals, Dottie's heart encompassed the love for her canine companion and all creatures great and small. Her compassion extended to those who shared her world, leaving an indelible mark on the lives she touched.

On June 26, 1948, she embraced a life journey with Joseph Vincent Schmeltz, a love story that etched moments of joy and companionship until his passing on March 8, 1980. Her legacy lives on through her children.

Dottie is survived by Patrick Schmeltz of Boling Green, OH, Cynthia (John) Zingg of Pryton, CO, John (Patricia) Schmeltz of Golden, MO, Rebecca (Charles) McGee of Yorktown, VA, Marcie (Ron) Husley of Chanute, KS, and Ted (Katie) Schmeltz of Wasilla, AK, each a testament to the love and guidance she imparted. She is also survived by her 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren who carry her spirit forward.
