(From Parker Mortuary)Elmer E. Walker, age 86 of Galena, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at his home. Elmer was born on October 19, 1937 in Vinita, Oklahoma to the late Paul Walker and Lula Finnell Walker.
After Elmer graduated high school, he signed up to serve in the Marines. He made a career of being a Truck Driver for over 42 years, owning and operating his own company for most of those years. Elmer was a member of Fraternal order of Eagles, Lodge #2410; American Legion Post 206 in Baxter Springs, Kansas and the former Elks Lodge Post 677 of Galena.
He married Patricia Anthony on January 9, 2007, she preceded him in death in June of 2020. Elmer is also preceded in death by his parents; sons, Troy and Tony Walker; two sisters and one brother.
Elmer is survived by daughters Londa Sofia and husband, Tom of Joplin, Gayla Woodcock and husband, Les of Galena and Robin Frazier and husband, Donny of Purcell; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; and several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
