Steve Eck

With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Steven Ray Eck, fondly known as Steve, on December 30, 2023. Born on August 8, 1952, in Sedalia, MO, Steven was a dedicated and compassionate man who touched the lives of many throughout his 71 years. 

As Albert Schweitzer once said, "The purpose of human life is to serve, and to show compassion and the will to help others." Steve was the epitome of this quote, always ready with a helping hand and a warm smile.







Steve found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He coached youth sports for his children, grandchildren and community. His love for sports did not stop there; he was a great supporter of Webb City athletics, and youth sports through the lives of his grandkids, making significant contributions to the Webb City community. He was also a hardworking carpenter, dedicating his professional life to commercial construction. He retired in 2016 from Webb City Schools, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and commitment.

What mattered most to Steve were his grandkids and great-grandkids. He was an amazing grandfather, always showering his family with love and affection. He is survived by his daughter Krista Eck, a son Ryan Eck, his mother Norma Eck, his brother Gary (Lisa) Eck, his granddaughter Kailee Putnam (Javon) grandson Gabriel Putnam, and great-grandchildren Kreed Rigsby, Jolee Rigsby, and Forrest Lawson. He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Eck.

Steve's life was a testament to the words of Maya Angelou - "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." He made everyone feel loved, appreciated, and special. His memory will forever be etched in our hearts. A celebration of life will be held at a later date at Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City.








A life celebration will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City. A visitation will be held on from 10am until service time. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Webb City Athletic Booster Club, in care of the funeral home.
