Marlin Roeder

Marlin Floyd Roeder (88) of Neosho, MO passed away at Granby House in Granby MO on Sunday December 31, 2023. Mr. Roeder was born December 19, 1935, in Sedgwick, KS to the late Floyd Roeder and Gertrude (Young) Roeder of Sedgwick, KS. 

On March 1, 1958, he married Iola Mae Powell (deceased). They had three children together. They served as Bus Captains for First Church of God in Houston TX for several years.







He graduated from Valley Center High School, class of 1953. He was a star athlete setting a pole vault record in track, captain of the basketball team, and co-captain of the football team. Mr. Roeder attended Bethel College in Newton, KS for one year setting a pole vault record for his college team.

Marlin served in the U.S. Army from 1958 – 1964 as a Combat Engineer specializing in construction and inspection of bombs and land mines. His ranking was Explosive Specialist 4th Class.

He graduated from Gulf Coast Bible College Houston, TX. in 1977.

Mr. Roeder was self-employed most of his life in various occupations. He owned a Snap-On-Tool dealership as well as a sanitation business, home dairy delivery service, industrial part deliveries, a vending machine business and a puppy transport service, just to name a few. He never met anyone that he didn’t become quick friends with. He always had a way to find people to help and knew those that could help him as well. Mr. Roeder had a heart for ministry. Serving 4 years in pastoral ministry while helping and supporting young ministers as well. He was a member of First Assembly of God in Neosho MO. As a hobby, he enjoyed shooting pool. He traveled to play in many tournaments, winning several first, second and third place trophies.








Survivors include his wife, Lois Greer; daughters, Alice (Bill) Staten and Nancy (Bill) Myers; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, and son, Ronald Roeder.

No services are planned at this time. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.
