Thelma Holland

Thelma "Sue" Holland, age 77, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024, at her home in Pierce City, MO. 

She was born in Pierce City, MO on Friday, June 14, 1946; daughter of George Lewis and Thelma Ruth (Sowersby) Sooter. She married Donald Lee Holland on Wednesday, February 12, 1964, in Monett, MO. 

Mrs. Holland enjoyed camping on the weekends when the kids were younger. She liked sewing, crocheting, gardening, canning, and cooking. She was known as the "yeast roll master." 








She enjoyed reading and watching soap operas. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Holland spent many hours studying and researching her family genealogy. Family was everything to her!

Surviving are the following: two sons, Donald "Donnie" L. (Ava) Holland, Jr. of Pierce City, MO and Dennis E. Holland of Joplin, MO; five grandchildren, Heather Barnes, Rusty (Brittney) Holland, Blake (Brandi) Holland, Samantha (Tyler) Walker, and Emily Franklin; seventeen great-grandchildren; a brother, George (Linda) Sooter, Jr. of Monett, MO; two sisters, Mary (Tim) Denny of Monett, MO and Jenny (Gene) Elsey of Bella Vista, AR; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.







Preceding her death were her parents, George and Thelma Sooter; and her husband, Donald Lee Holland, Sr.

Graveside service will be at Pierce City Cemetery in Pierce City, MO on Thursday, January 4, 2024, beginning at 2:00 PM with Pastor Blake Holland officiating. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.
