(From Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary)Omadine Hoyer, age 99, of Frontenac, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2023 at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, KS.
Omadine was born on December 16, 1924 in Pittsburg to the late union of Lester W. and Alice M. (Lawver) Roberds. She grew up on a farm near Asbury, MO raising over 4,000 chickens. She was a graduate of Columbus High School and attended Kansas State Teachers College of Pittsburg where she obtained a teacher’s certificate.
She then worked as a welder, teacher, and among many other things, but retired from Cooper Communities in Bella Vista, AR. Omadine went on yearly RV camping trips to her favorite spot, Crawford State Park.
She also was a snowbird, where she spent many winters in Southern Texas in her RV. Omadine was a go getter and until the day of her passing was still gardening in her yard, traveling, and even camping at her favorite park recently. She loved music, golfing, and spending time in the outdoors whenever she had the chance.
Omadine is survived by her three children, Kim Weber and husband, Richard, Calvin Bower and wife, Judy, and Marvin Bower and wife, Leila; one brother, Dale Roberds; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and her beloved companion, Margo.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made out to Happy Paws or the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Pittsburg, Kansas.
A private burial of ashes will held at a later date.
Cremation arrangements are under the special care and direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary.
