Raymond Leroy Slagle, 78 years, of Goodman, Missouri passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
He was born on December 2, 1939 in McDonald County, Missouri to the late Everett J. and Ruby Mae (Roark) Slagle. He married Linda O'Brien on April 7, 1961 at Miami, Oklahoma and to this union a son was born. Raymond was a retired Senior Chief Petty officer with the Navy, proudly serving our country for 22 years. He worked as a teacher for 15 year in Southwest City, Missouri and the Neosho Alternative school. Raymond was a avid reader and attended the Crossbar Cowboy Church in Neosho, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Eric Slagle and a sister, Terry Burns.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Linda Slagle of the home; grandchildren, Pamela Slagle, Dalton Slagle, Elizabeth Slagle; a step grandchild, Julia Oney; along with a host of other family members and friends who will dearly miss Raymond.
Funeral services for Raymond will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home. Pastor Bob Holloway will officiate. Burial will follow in the New Bethel Cemetery in Anderson, Missouri. Those honoring Raymond's life by serving as pallbearers are Danny Cole, Gordon Spencer, Lynnie Frossard, Cecil O'Brien, Danny Burns and Jamey Shelton. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at this time.
