Vera Dean Cole, 95, passed away at her Neosho home on July 31, 2018. She was born Nov. 26, 1922 in Granby, MO to Ronald and Opal Marie (Sanders) Mesplay. Vera was a lifelong area resident and, along with her late husband, was a dairy farmer in Diamond before locating to Neosho. She was a member of High Street Christian Church. In her spare time, Vera enjoyed gardening, flowers, reading, sewing and cross-stitching.
Vera Dean and Jesse Cole were married April 30, 1943 in Los Angeles, CA; he preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 2011. She is survived by three daughters: Kay Butler and husband, Jim of Lincoln, MO, Linda Eubanks and husband, Virgil of Joplin, MO, and Rhonda Self and husband, Charles of Neosho, MO; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Vera was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Hattie Mesplay; and sister, Mary Lee Bowman.
Services will be held at 10 am Saturday at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Neosho. Virgil Eubanks and Jeremy Eubanks will officiate. Interment will follow at Diamond Cemetery, Diamond, MO. A visitation will be Friday evening from 5:30-6:30 at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, MO.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Vera’s caregivers Dawn Endicott and Laura Hostetter, the staff of Hospice Compassus, and to Dr. Betasso for the care of their loved one.
