Bob Lane

Robert Lee "Bob" Lane, age 72, Loma Linda, passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at his home after a six month battle with cancer.

Bob was born December 30, 1945 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, son of the late Joseph Lee Lane and Effie Louise Thompson Lane. He graduated from Neosho High School, then proudly served with the Army Ranger Special Operations Division in Vietnam, serving in long range recon. He returned from Vietnam, a highly decorated veteran, and moved to California, where worked there in the Horticultural Industry. He returned to the Joplin area in 1990 where he continued to own and operate his tree service, Trees Unlimited, until retiring in 2010. He was a member of Faith and New Hope Church of Joplin.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a niece, Robin Johnson.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Sherry Landers Lane of the home, daughter, Michelle Reyes and husband Luis of Riverside, California; step son, Michael Smith of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Nelissa D'Aprile, Nikko D'Aprile, Caleb D'Aprile all of Riverside, and Victoria Kathleen Smith of Tulsa; six siblings, Ada Sparks of Lee Summit, Missouri, Betty Banks of Joshua Tree, California, Sarah Lane of Joplin, James E. Lane and wife Ladonna of Cainsville, Missouri, William "Bill" Lane of Joplin, and Ralph Lane and wife Ann also of Joplin; nieces and nephews, Terri Sanchez and husband John, Robert Johnson, Tim Clack and wife Sharon, Amy Devore and husband Trann, Jason Lane and wife Jesse, John Lane and wife Angie, Chad Butler and wife Angie, Joshua Gill, and Scott Gill; several great-nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be Friday, September 7, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at Faith and New Hope Church with Pastor P.J. Hutchinson officiating.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
