Heber Wilson

Heber O. Wilson, Jr. born December 16, 1928 in Port Lemon, Costa Rica to Heber O. Wilson, Sr. and Geneva Irene Darby. His father was serving as a U.S. Government Inspector to the United Fruit Company. The family returned to the family homestead at Florence, Texas. He attended the one room school until the family moved to Stephenville, Texas where his mother's family lived.

Heber married Eileen Britton on May 21, 1955 and four children were welcomed, Guy, Kent, Pamela and Deborah. Nine grandchildren, Kyle, Jennifer, Kristi, Mindy, Tyler, Ashley, Chelsea, Kelsey and Christa. The have twelve great grandchildren.

During WW II the family moved to Venus, California and Heber graduated Venice High School where he began his service in the U. S. Marine Corp. His active duty began in the Korean War, where he served three years. When he arrived home, the family had moved by to Texas. He remained in California working for 'North American Aviation'. He was one of seven individuals chosen from North American Aviation in Santa Monica to work for the 'Aerophysics Development Corporation' which moved to Santa Barbara in 1956.








When most of the company was moving to the East Coast, Cape Canaveral, Heber was ready for a change of service and applied to the Montecito Fire District in Santa Barbara, where he remained for fifteen years. He was their first Fire Marshal. A heart attack, while on duty, brought his progression to a halt. On retirement he was encouraged to work with children in Carpinteria, California and accepted a position at Aliso Elementary School. Later he worked with a handicapped young man in a printing shop in Santa Barbara. Heber would go back to college and change occupation and just before retirement, worked for Santa Barbara Research Company training security guards. Heber served as Master of the Carpinteria Masonic Temple and was a 32nd Degree Mason and Flag bearer for Shriners.

In 1994 they moved to Neosho and are current members of the First Presbyterian Church.
