Jesse Fortin

Jesse D. Fortin, age 70, of Wentworth, MO died on Wednesday, October 02, 2019 at his home. He was a dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Mr. Fortin was born in Oberlin, KS on Thursday, November 25, 1948. He was one of five children born to Jim and Rita (Bishop) Fortin. 

Mr. Fortin was married to Karla Wells on Thursday, April 04, 2002. They were married for nearly 18 years and the love between them is everlasting. Throughout the years, they were very involved in buying and selling cattle, went to farm auctions, and enjoyed time with family and grandkids.

His love for his family and friends was unquestionable. Mr. Fortin will be remembered for his big laugh, his crazy sayings, and his love for cattle. In 1968, he was called to serve in the Vietnam War. After coming home from war, he was faced with challenges but settled down to create a life for his family filled with fun and adventure. He enjoyed camping, canoe trips, fishing, and hunting pheasants in Western Kansas. Mr. Fortin worked for B.N.S.F. for 36 years where he built bridges and made many lifelong friends.








Surviving are the following: his wife, Karla of the home; three children, Jeremy (Kalina) Fortin of Pierce City, MO, Carrie Foster of Oronogo, MO, and Sarah Moudy of Taylorville, IL; one stepson, Bradley Ashton of Sapulpa, OK; two sisters, Peggy Heidlage of Granby, MO and Connie Houck of Pierce City, MO; one brother, Fred Fortin of Wentworth, MO; eleven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He will be missed by many more nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones.

After a year-long "fight for his life" he has joined his father, mother, and a brother, "Ponch", in heaven. Mr. Fortin's last days were surrounded by family and friends.

Funeral Services will be at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO on Tuesday, October 08, 2019 beginning at 1:00 PM with Rev. Deny LeMaster officiating. There will be no visitation and the casket will remain closed at all times. Burial will follow at Pierce City Cemetery in Pierce City, MO. Arrangements are entrusted to the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.
