Jewell Thornberry

Jewell Nadine Thornberry was born May 22, 1930 in Elm Springs, Missouri, one of five children to Fate and Jewell (Gandy) Ball. She entered into rest on October 5, 2019 in Joplin, Missouri at the age of 89 years, 4 months and 13 days.

Nadine was a lifelong area resident and had retired from La Z Boy Midwest. She was a member of the Northside Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School and for 25 years, acted as the secretary for the Women's Missionary Union. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and enjoyed trips with the Widow to Widow group, cooking, flowers and playing cards with her special group of 'girls'. 

Nadine and Don Thornberry were married on November 7, 1948in Joplin and celebrated over 50 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on February 7, 1999. 








She is survived by three daughters, Donna Surber of Neosho, Mona Clouse of Neosho and Cynthia Lentz and husband, Ken of Eagle Rock; one sister, Joan Goade and husband, Charles of Neosho; eleven grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
